Purchased by Zeyd Saad el Muteyri on behalf of Wilfred Blunt in Egypt in 1887 and exported to Crabbet in 1888. A very influential sire although he only stood 4 seasons at Crabbet before being purchased by Mr Thompson on behalf of Cecil Rhodes for 400 guineas. He was exported to South Africa in 1891. Additional Notes: It is widely reported that Wilfred Blunt considered Azrek to be the best horse he ever possessed. Indeed, Lady Anne Blunt felt much saddness at losing such an excellent sire. None of his bloodlines remain today in South Africa.
