About

Having grown up around, and lived with, horses from childhood, Shannon started in rodeo events in her youth - including barrel racing, pole bending, cutting, cattle sorting and team penning. In her early teens Shannon and her family moved to Alaska where Shannon undertook show jumping and English disciplines and began training horses at 15 for a guest ranch. Upon moving to Texas in early adulthood, I began training race horses at Ross Downs in Grapevine, Texas - a position I held for eight years before retiring from the racing industry to focus on raising her daughter, Shanda. It was Shanda's unique needs and the search for an "at home" therapy and Special Olympics mount for Shanda in the early 1990's that led my family and I to the Arabian horse breed through the amazing Straight Egyptian mare - Persiaa.
