Creating an article

Click "Write Article" in the sidebar, or tap the + button on mobile.

Fill in the following:

  1. Title (required) — give your article a clear, descriptive name.
  2. Summary — a brief description that appears in article listings. This helps readers decide whether to click in.
  3. Content — write the main body of your article using the rich text editor.
  4. Animal type categories — select up to 5 categories so your article appears in the right communities. For example, if you're writing about Golden Retrievers, select that breed.
  5. Keywords (optional) — add a few keywords to help people find your article through search.

The rich text editor

The editor lets you format your text with bold, italic, headings, lists, links, and more.

You can paste content from other sources and the formatting will be preserved. Just write naturally — the editor handles the layout for you.

The toolbar at the top gives you quick access to all formatting options. Hover over any button to see what it does.

Cover photo

A cover photo appears at the top of your article and in article listings, giving readers a visual preview of your content.

  1. Click the upload area above your article content.
  2. Select an image from your device.

You can remove the cover photo anytime if you change your mind. Articles without a cover photo still look great — it's entirely optional.

Adding and removing photos

In your article's Photos section, you can upload new photos or link to existing ones. These appear in a gallery within the article.

To remove a photo from the article, click the X icon. This only removes the photo from the article — the photo itself is not deleted and still exists on the site.

Adding links

Similar to photos, you can add links to your article by pasting a YouTube or Vimeo URL.

The link will appear embedded in your article so readers can watch it without leaving the page.

Commenting on articles

Readers can leave comments below any article.

As the article owner, you can delete any comment on your article. Comment authors can always delete their own comments.

Editing and deleting

Click "Edit" on any article you wrote to update its title, content, categories, or anything else.

To delete an article, find the delete option on the edit page. Deleting removes the article permanently, so please be sure before you proceed.

Browsing articles

The Articles page shows all published articles in a grid, newest first.

One article may be featured at the top — this is chosen by site administrators to highlight especially helpful or interesting content.
