What is a storefront?
Your storefront is your program's public page on Best In Show - the place you send buyers and fellow breeders. Every storefront gets its own web address:
thebestin.show/storefronts/your-handle/
Visitors to your storefront see:
- Available now - your active availability listings.
- Animals - the animals your storefront owns.
- Animals we've bred - animals you bred that have since moved to new homes. Your breeder credit stays with them forever.
- About - your program description, location, and website.
- Photos and Articles - content tagged to or written by your storefront.
- Latest updates - a feed of your recent activity (see below).
- A contact button so interested buyers can reach you, if you've enabled it.
Under your storefront name we also show a few tags describing what you've published: the breeds you own animals of, and whether you've recorded health results or titles. These appear on their own as you fill your program in - there's nothing to switch on.
These tags describe your records, they are not a Best In Show endorsement. We don't vet or verify breeders, and we don't badge anyone as approved. What a buyer sees is what you've published, and they can open any animal to read it for themselves.
Storefront settings
Open Storefront Settings from the profile menu (or the settings button on your storefront page). You can edit:
- Storefront name - how your program appears across the site.
- Business name - an optional formal or registered business name.
- Handle - the part of your web address that's unique to you (see below).
- Established year - how long your program has been running.
- About your program - the description shown on your storefront's About section.
- Program credibility - your approach to breeding, the clubs and registries you belong to, and your health-testing commitment. These appear on your storefront and on every listing you publish, shown as your own statements. Best In Show does not vet breeders, so they are labelled as not verified rather than presented as badges.
- Website - a link to your own site.
- Location - country, state or region, city, and postal code. Share only what you're comfortable with.
- Contact options - whether to show the contact form and/or your email address (see below).
Only the storefront's owners and managers can change settings - see Members & Roles.
Your handle
Your handle is the unique part of your storefront's web address. Keep it short and recognizable - your program name works well. You can share the link anywhere: social media, business cards, or email signatures.
You can change your handle in Storefront Settings, but changes are rate-limited - you can't change it repeatedly in quick succession. Links to your old handle won't follow you, so pick something you're happy to keep.
Profile and cover photos
The profile photo appears next to your storefront's name across the site - in search results, on animal pages, and on your storefront itself. The cover photo is the wide banner across the top of your storefront page.
- Go to your storefront page.
- Click the camera icon on the avatar or in the cover area.
- Upload an image and adjust the crop.
Wide, landscape-oriented images work best for the cover. You can change or remove either photo anytime.
Contact options
Storefront Settings has two toggles that control how buyers can reach you:
- Show contact form - adds a contact button to your storefront so visitors can send you an inquiry without needing your email address.
- Show email - displays your email address publicly on your storefront.
Most breeders enable the contact form and keep their email private - inquiries land in your inbox and in your email either way.
Latest updates
The Latest updates section is an automatic feed of your recent activity - new animals, photos, listings, and articles. It shows visitors that your program is active without any extra work from you. Individual animals have a similar Updates tab on their profiles.
The storefront directory
Every storefront with animals is listed in the storefront directory, which visitors can search by name. Storefronts also appear in site search - and storefronts on the Pro or Team plan get featured placement in matching search results.
