For buyers: contacting a breeder

Found an animal you're interested in? Contacting the breeder is free and doesn't require an account:

  1. Click Inquire on a listing, or the contact button on a storefront.
  2. Enter your name, email address, and message.
  3. You'll get a confirmation email with a private link to your conversation. That link is your key to the thread - keep the email! When the breeder replies, you'll be notified by email and can respond from the same private page.

Lost the email? No problem - visit the link recovery page, enter the email address you used, and we'll resend the private links to your active conversations.

Your conversation stays between you and the breeder. To prevent spam, there are limits on how many new inquiries one person can start per day.

For breeders: your inquiry inbox

Every inquiry lands in My Inquiries, and you're notified by email (controlled by your email preferences). Each thread shows the buyer's messages, which listing or page they came from, and an unread indicator.

The inbox organizes threads by status:

  • New - waiting for your first reply.
  • Replied - you've responded, ball's in the buyer's court.
  • Qualified - a serious prospect you want to keep an eye on.
  • Closed - the conversation has ended. Buyers can no longer reply to a closed thread.
  • Spam - junk, out of sight.

Open a thread to reply or change its status. Any member of your storefront can work the inbox.

Reply templates

On the Pro and Team plans, one-click reply templates ("Still available", "Not available", "Tell me more") pre-fill your response so you can answer the common questions quickly and spend your typing time on the serious buyers.

Tips

  • Reply promptly - buyers usually contact several programs at once.
  • Use statuses - marking serious prospects Qualified keeps them from getting lost under new mail.
  • Check your email preferences - make sure inquiry notifications are on so you never miss a buyer.
  • Inquiry counts appear on your Insights dashboard (Pro/Team), so you can see which animals draw the most interest.
