Titles and show wins

Best In Show records an animal's competition history in two parts:

  • Titles - championships and working titles earned from a registry (CH, GCH, CD, and many more), picked from a curated catalog.
  • Show wins - individual results: the event, the placement (say, Best of Breed), the date, and the registry.

Recording titles and wins is a Pro feature. Anything you've recorded is always displayed publicly, even if you later change plans - your animals' accomplishments are never hidden.

Recording a title

From the animal's management hub, open Titles & wins:

  1. Click Add a title and pick the title from the catalog - it's searchable by abbreviation or full name.
  2. Optionally add the date earned.
  3. Save. The title immediately joins the animal's titled name (see below) and its public profile.

Show wins work the same way: Add a show result with the event name, placement, date, and registry.

Titled names

Titles display as part of the animal's name across the site - prefix titles before the name, suffix titles after, in the traditional style: GCH CH Rocky CD.

Many breeders have titles baked into the animal's name already ("CH Rocky"). Best In Show is smart about this: if the animal actually holds a recorded title that also appears in its name, it isn't shown twice. The management page flags any title still embedded in the name ("Also in name") so you can clean the name up if you like.

Recorded conformation championships also light up champion styling for the animal wherever it appears in pedigree trees and the pedigree PDF.

What visitors see

The animal's public profile shows an achievements panel - mirroring the health panel - with its titles and show results. Individual titles and wins have their own public/private toggles, so you control exactly what's displayed.
